As a busy homesteader, finding time to prepare a hearty and satisfying meal can be challenging. Thankfully, there are ways to create delicious dishes without spending hours in the kitchen. In this blog post, I will share a mouthwatering recipe for a classic favorite: no-boil lasagna. This recipe not only saves you time but also incorporates the convenience of no-boil noodles. So, let's roll up our sleeves and create a scrumptious lasagna that your family will love!

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey or sausage)

1 onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 jar pasta sauce (28 ounces)

2 teaspoons dried basil

2 teaspoons dried oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 container (15 ounces) of ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)

1 egg

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 package (9 ounces) of no-boil lasagna noodles

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the pasta sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

Now it's time to assemble the lasagna. Start by spreading a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of no-boil lasagna noodles over the sauce, making sure to overlap slightly.

Spoon a generous layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles, spreading it evenly. Top it with another layer of meat sauce, followed by another layer of noodles. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil, ensuring it's well sealed to trap the steam. This will help cook the noodles to perfection.

Place the lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once cooked, remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the top. Return the lasagna to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and gooey.

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

With this easy and time-saving no-boil lasagna recipe, you can enjoy a delicious and satisfying meal without the hassle of boiling noodles. As a busy homesteader, it's important to have recipes that simplify your cooking process, and this one does just that. So gather your ingredients, embrace the convenience of no-boil noodles, and treat your family to a scrumptious homemade lasagna that will warm their hearts and bellies.

Remember, the beauty of homesteading lies in finding creative ways to simplify your daily tasks, freeing up more time for the things that truly matter. Enjoy this flavorful dish and savor the satisfaction of creating wholesome meals for your loved ones.
